Good morning, Pickswise Nation, and welcome to a quieter Friday of sports. With the NBA and NHL on hiatus tonight following two 4-0 series sweeps, we’ve got a great MLB slate to headline today’s action. Let’s get straight to making your next bet better!

About Last Night

Celtics picking up steam
The Boston Celtics aren’t done just yet. With their backs up against the wall, Boston put forth a dominant showing at home to win its second straight Game and force a Game 6 in Miami on Saturday night. The Celtics would join just 3 other teams in NBA History if they are able to win on Saturday and force a Game 7 in Boston on Monday.

Stars get on the board
It looked like both NHL Conference Finals series would result in sweeps, but the Dallas Stars were able to get on the board with a 3-2 overtime victory over the Golden Knights on Thursday. The series will now shift back to Las Vegas for a pivotal Game 5 on Saturday, where the Knights are favored in that matchup with a second chance to reach their second-ever Stanley Cup Finals.

MLB props stay hot
Thursday featured plenty of baseball action throughout the day, and our MLB props expert Ahaan Rungta had another winner with his prop pick on Thursday, while our YRFI/NRFI picks are now on a 34-14 run.

Today’s Slate

Plenty of action on the diamond
With the NBA and NHL having rare nights off, the highlight of Friday’s slate will be on the diamond. The weekend gets underway with a titanic series between the Dodgers and Rays in Tampa Bay at 6:40 pm ET, plus an East Coast showdown in the Bronx between the Padres and Yankees at 7:05 pm ET. Read today’s MLB predictions.

Best Bet of the Day

MLB: Chicago White Sox vs Detroit Tigers over 8.5 (-110)
6:40 pm ET

The White Sox and Tigers face off in game two of their series on Friday evening with the game total set at 8.5. When these two teams face one another, the bats tend to perform well on both sides. In their past five matchups, the over has hit in four of the games. Tonight we will also have a sub-par pitching matchup as the struggling Lance Lynn takes the mound against the also struggling Joey Wentz. Lynn is coming into this game with a 6.28 ERA, 1.47 WHIP, and nearly double the home run to fly ball ratio (19.47%), compared to the league average. On the other side, Wentz’s numbers are even worse than Lynn’s. He’s coming into this game with a 7.45 ERA, 1.63 WHIP, and 49 hits allowed through 38.2 innings pitched.
