Which games will Kylian Mbappé miss for Real Madrid due to injury?
Real Madrid have been dealt another injury blow just one month into the new season. The club confirmed on Wednesday that Kylian Mbappé is set to spend time on the sidelines after picking up an injury in Tuesday’s victory over Alaves.
The Frenchman scored against in the 3-2 LaLiga victory but asked to be substituted, sparking concern about his fitness.
A statement on the Real Madrid club website explains: “Following tests carried out today by Real Madrid’s Medical Services on our player Kylian Mbappé, he has been diagnosed with an injury to the biceps femoris in his left leg. His progress will be monitored.”
The club has not confirmed a timeframe for his return but he could well be unavailable for at least three weeks. Real Madrid’s upcoming fixtures see them take on Atletico Madrid, LOSC Lille and Villarreal.
Madrid fans will be frustrated to see that 25-year-old will absent for this Sunday’s Madrid derby, his first since joining the club. The trip to Lille in early October is a Champions League tie. However early signs suggest that Mbappé will be back in contention in time to face Barcelona at the Santiago Bernabéu on October 26. European club soccer is put on hold for a two-week international break in mid-October, giving Mbappé extra time to recover ahead of the EL Clásico clash.
