Ole Gunnar Solskjaer may not have taken another managerial job since being sacked by Manchester United in November 2021, but he has been pretty busy nonetheless.

The Norwegian was relieved of his duties by the club he used to play for just over a year ago, being let go after suffering a humiliating 4-1 defeat to Watford. That was the final nail in the coffin following a string of poor results that included heavy losses against Liverpool, Leicester and Manchester City.

He has been largely out of the public eye since then which, according to The Athletic, is a choice he has actively made, turning down offers to manage other clubs and do some TV punditry.

However, while he has been spending a lot of time with his family, splitting his time between Norway, where two of his children play senior Football, and the family home in Cheshire, and has even learned to sail, his coaching career has very much remained a focus.

The 49-year-old is said to intend to return to management at some point in the future and has been working hard to ensure he'll be prepared as possible to do so when that day comes.

Solskjaer has rewatched all of the 168 Manchester United matches that took place during his time in charge and has studied the top teams in Europe closely, analysing why they're successful. He has also attended a number of Football matches in person in multiple countries, including England.

In February of this year, he travelled to Doncaster with Michael Carrick to watch an Ipswich side managed by Kieran McKenna, a member of his coaching team at Old Trafford

On the whole, Solskjaer, still far from 'old' in the coaching game, is said to be pleased with the job he did at his former club and remains confident he can yet succeed again as a manager.
