What is the cut line at the 2024 BMW PGA Championship? How many players will make the cut?
England’s Matthew Baldwin was the overnight leader after the first day of action at the BMW PGA Championship, DP World Tour which is being staged the Wentworth Club in Surrey (UK), with Northern Ireland’s Rory McIlroy two strokes behind.
The 38-year-old Baldwin, ranked world number 363, signed a card of 65 strokes (7 under par) with seven birdies during his first round to lead the pace ahead of Niklas Norgaard and Belgium’s Thomas Detry.
Ten players then share third place including McIlroy, Ireland’s Shane Lowry, American Billy Horschel and Italy’s Matteo Manassero.
McIlroy, who was agonisingly close to a win at the Irish Open last week, started his weekend at Wentworth with a round of 67, with an impressive four birdies in a row between holes 3 and 6.
Making the cut at Wentworth
With the players taking to the course ahead of day two at the BMW PGA Championship, DP World Tour event, the cutline after the first 36 holes is still not known.
However, DataGolf.com currently predicts that there is a 41% probability of the cut line being (-1), a 40% chance of (-2) being the cut with just a 9.5% of the cut being (-3).
74 players from the original field of 126 are expected to advance to participate in Saturday and Sunday’s final round of the tournament.
