Netflix released a seven-part documentary series about the Dallas Cowboys cheerleaders in June of this year, “America’s Sweethearts: Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders”, which was recently renewed for a second season. Next year, Netflix will be releasing another docuseries about the team and its history.

The streaming platform is teaming up with Skydance and NFL Films to work on the series, which is currently unnamed, and “Untold” directors Chapman Way and Maclain Way will direct it.

Netflix’s Dallas Cowboys documentary will focus on team’s history in the Jerry Jones era

The series will focus on the history of the Dallas Cowboys team from 1989, when Jerry Jones bought the team and took over as the owner. Jones, at 82 years old, is still the owner, president, and general manager.

The show will take a deep look at how the Cowboys won a Super Bowl just four years after Jones purchased the team, and its subsequent two in the following three years.

Since the ‘90s, however, the Cowboys have not seen that same success, their last NFC title and Super Bowl title both occurring in 1996. While they’re still largely known as “America’s Team”, that term encompasses their brand more than their record. With their mega-stadium in Arlington and their more than $10 billion net worth, the Cowboys are one of the most talked-about NFL teams in the country.

The docuseries will look into the team that, despite its wealth and investments, cannot seem to find success on the field in this century. It will feature interviews with former players and coaches, including Jimmy Johnson and Barry Switzer. There will also be appearances from some famous Cowboys fans, including former U.S. President George Bush.

When will Netflix’s Cowboys docuseries be released?

The Netflix series about the Dallas Cowboys does not yet have a set release date, but it is expected to premiere sometime in 2025.
