Uber passenger who was allegedly taken hostage shares terrifying ordeal
A traumatised Uber passenger is speaking out after claiming to have been taken hostage by a driver for the popular rideshare company.
When Tony Brindle jumped into the Uber he had ordered to go to Homebush he says he immediately raised a misunderstanding about the trip with the driver.

However, it quickly sparked a heated debate.
“I thought you were going to go around the roundabout,” Brindle can be heard saying in a recording obtained by 7NEWS.
“Sorry, I followed the pick-up point,” the driver replies.
The two continue to bicker over where the original pickup location was on the map, and who went to the wrong spot to meet.
“So where were you? Over there? It’s illegal there ... it says no stopping,” the driver says.
“Are you going to take me home or what?” Brindle replies.
The driver then decides to cancel the trip after the argument.
However, Brindle refuses to get out of the car without an immediate refund.
After a few minutes, the driver decides to take off, with the doors locked and Brindle still inside.
“Excuse me! Where are you taking me? Where are you taking me? ” Brindle can be heard saying.
“Excuse me, you’re abducting me!”
The driver finally stops, four kilometres away from where Brindle was first picked up.
“Are you mental?” Brindle can be heard shouting.
In a panic, as Brindle tries to put the car into park he allegedly elbows the driver across the face.
“I was trying to get out of the car, he was scaring me,” Brindle later tells a NSW Police officer.
“I didn’t know what he was doing, I pleaded with him to stop.”
But Brindle says his ordeal didn’t end when the driver let him out of the car.
Brindle was horrified to learn he was being charged with assault for allegedly hitting the driver across the face when trying to flee.
“I was thinking; am I being taken somewhere to be robbed...or bashed?” Brindle told 7NEWS.
“I’m mainly upset at how much it’s cost me.”
While the charges were thrown out in court after recordings from inside the vehicle were shown, Uber is now facing the prospect of a lawsuit as Brindle considers a civil case.
