The Golden Bachelorette contestant Jonathan Rone may not have found love with Joan Vassos, but he still got a happy ending with his new relationship after the show.

“It’s going good. I mentioned that, you know, I’m happy,” the Iowa native, 61, told Extra TV in an interview after the Men Tell All episode of the ABC dating show on Wednesday, November 6. “So I’m just going with that. I’m following my heart. I’m just trying to live my life with an authentic heart, being genuine, and so I just let the rest take care of itself.”

Jonathan revealed to his costars that he was in a new relationship during the tell-all episode.

“I just want to give an update on this journey, that I met someone and the most important thing about that is that I’m happy,” he told his castmates, including Joan, 61. Before revealing the news, Jonathan told the leading lady that he had no ill feelings toward her after their breakup and thanked her for making his time on The Golden Bachelorette so enjoyable.

Jonathan did not reveal any details about the relationship or the identity of the mystery woman. However, fans were itching to know everything.

“Ok, who else wants to hear more about the person Jonathan met!?!? (So happy for him!) #GoldenBachelorette,” one person wrote on X. Another user added, “JONATHAN WHO DID YOU MEET?????!!”

Jonathan revealed to Joan on The Golden Bachelorette that he was previously married, but his wife “blindsided” him with a divorce and made him a “single father with shared custody.”

“Life was grand, so to speak. I [was] a husband, I [was] a father,” he explained. “One Sunday morning, the kids were sleeping, I was sleeping. My wife woke me up and said, ’Hey can we talk?’ She took a deep breath and said, ‘I want a divorce.’ Out of the blue. And said, ‘I’m not happy.’”

During a recent appearance on the “Bachelor Happy Hour” podcast with Joe Amabile and Serena Pitt, Jonathan said that he tried dating in his area before going on the show.

“Living in Oakland, Iowa, in a town of about 1,500 people, there’s no one in my dating pool,” the materials specialist said. “So I had to reach out to social media to see if I could connect with someone.”

He continued, “My last relationship lasted about a year and I met a girl online. She was from Norway and I was pretty impulsive and I ended up flying over to Norway to meet her. And she flew to the States and met me here a couple times and so it was a good relationship, but it was difficult because that’s quite a distance. It’s like over 4,000 miles away and a lot of things to consider.”

Jonathan concluded, “It became more of a fantasy that I was involved in and it took me out of my reality, it took me out of my present day, my responsibilities of doing things for my kids, for my job, things like that. And so the dating life has been kind of hit or miss. There’s always been a distance issue with me, but you know I’ve never given up on it, though.”
