“That’s a Brendan team” – Rodgers Reveals Chelsea Dugout Reaction to Celtic Win
Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers is delighted with how his side have performed this pre-season.
The Hoops have been near-on perfect in the lead-up to the new campaign, winning four of the five friendlies they’ve contested so far, scoring 19 goals along the way.
The US tour was nothing but a success, the Scottish champions putting big English Premier League sides such as Manchester City and Chelsea to the sword.
Against the latter, the Hoops were notably impressive, coming away deserved 4-1 victors.
Matt O’Riley, Kyogo Furuhashi, Luis Palma, and Mikey Johnston got the goals in a dominant display from Rodgers’ men.
As he spoke to the media at Lennoxtown this afternoon ahead of Flag Day, the boss revealed what one of his former players from Chelsea thought of Celtic’s performance.
“This is arguably one of the best pre-seasons I’ve ever had”, he said (Clyde 1 Superscoreboard).
“It was interesting, I had one former player of mine, who played for Chelsea, he said after the Game when we played against them, he was talking on the bench, and he was talking about ‘That’s a Brendan team we’re playing’.
“So that was a good sign for me on a personal level because he’s played for me before and knows what I expect and demand and he can see it in a different team.”
Celtic have shown some encouraging signs in pre-season thus far. The Bhoys are not yet the finished article, but the manager has the right to be encouraged ahead of Flag Day in front of a sold-out Paradise.
