The Cleveland Guardians and the Texas Rangers meet Wednesday in MLB action from Globe Life Field. We will look at this from a betting perspective and determine the best bets for this Game. Here’s a Texas Rangers vs Cleveland Guardians Prediction.
Starting Pitching Matchup
The Cleveland Guardians will send out Carlos Carrasco here and Carrasco is 2-3 with a 5.36 ERA and 31 strikeouts this season. In his last five starts against Texas, Carrasco is 3-1 with a 5.68 ERA and 38 strikeouts. The Texas Rangers will trot out Jon Gray here and Gray is 1-1 with a 2.36 ERA and 49 strikeouts this season. In his career, Gray is 0-2 with a 5.49 ERA and 11 strikeouts against Cleveland.
Cleveland Guardians Recap
The Cleveland Guardians come into this one looking to complete the sweep of the Rangers with a 7-4 win over the Rangers last time out. The series win would go a long way towards bouncing back from their series loss to the Chicago White Sox over the weekend.
Guardians Small Ball Approach Leads To Inconsistent Offense
Steven Kwan leads the Guardians with 47 hits including 3 home runs, 11 RBIs, 6 doubles and a pair of triples with a .353 batting average and a .407 OBP. Josh Naylor has a team-high 12 home runs with 33 RBIs and 8 doubles while Jose Ramirez has 9 homers with a team-high 37 RBIs. Brayan Rocchio has a team-high 8 doubles and 7 stolen bases as well this season.
Why the Cleveland Guardians will win
- The Guardians have won each of their last six games as underdogs against the Rangers following a win.
- The Rangers have lost nine of their last 10 games as favorites against the Guardians following a loss.
- The Rangers have failed to cover the run line each of their last nine home games against AL Central opponents that held a winning record.
- The Guardians have covered the run line in each of their last 11 Wednesday games against the Rangers.
- The Rangers have trailed after 3 innings in each of their last three games as home favorites against American League opponents.
- The Guardians have led after 5 innings in seven of their last eight games as underdogs against AL West opponents.
Texas Rangers Recap
The Texas Rangers come into this one looking to salvage something from the series after falling short in Tuesday’s matchup, making it their fifth straight loss and putting the Rangers at risk of being swept for the second straight series after losing to the Rockies over the weekend.
Rangers Have The Names On Paper But Bats Aren’t Producing
Marcus Semien leads the Rangers with 52 hits along with 10 doubles, 7 home runs and 29 RBIs while Adolis Garcia has a team-high 9 home runs and 32 RBIs with 9 doubles as well as 4 stolen bases. Evan Carter also has 5 home runs with 15 RBIs while Jonah Heim has 4 homers and 26 RBIs and Josh Smith has a team-high 11 doubles.
Why the Texas Rangers will win
- The Rangers have won six of their last seven games following a home loss.
- The Guardians have failed to cover the run line in six of their last eight night games following a win.
- The Rangers have covered the run line in three of their last four games against American League opponents following a home loss.
Texas Rangers vs Cleveland Guardians Prediction
I’m on the Rangers here. I think Texas can really use the win to stop the bleeding and Carlos Carrasco has been hemorrhaging runs and hits on the road as he’s been absolutely torched in a couple of his recent road starts. The Rangers are a much better team than what they’ve shown in recent weeks, heck, these are still the defending World Series champions. Jon Gray’s pitched exceptionally for much of the season and I’m not really looking to deviate from that here with Carrasco as the alternative. Give me the Rangers.
