Star Wars Jedi: Survivor Director Wants Cal To Have A Trilogy

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is still over a month away, yet that hasn't stopped developer Respawn Entertainment from talking about a potential sequel. The Game's director - Stig Asmussen - has revealed that if given the opportunity, he would like to make Cal Kestis' saga a trilogy, although it's highly dependent on whether Jedi: Survivor actually performs well.

Speaking with IGN, Asmussen also reveals that he'd wanted the Star Wars Jedi series to become a trilogy from the very beginning, and that the crew working on Jedi: Survivor already has an idea as to what they'd like to go down should a third Game be greenlit by EA.

"I always wanted to see this as a trilogy," says Asmussen. "How can we take Cal and the crew to new places beyond what we were doing in the first Game? We had a pretty decent idea of timeframe where we wanted Survivor to take place, what the stakes were going to be, what the tone of the Game was going to be, what Cal was going to be up against, and how the crew was going to factor into that. And there's ideas of what we could do beyond that as well."

Asmussen is slightly downplaying expectations that the series will become a trilogy by claiming it will only happen if Jedi: Survivor performs well, but it's very likely to sell by the bucket load. With that in mind, it'll be interesting to see where the story goes knowing that a third Game with Cal Kestis is probably going to be made. Could we be tortured by a nasty cliffhanger towards at the end of Jedi: Survivor? Hopefully not.

We'll find out shortly anyway, as the Game launches on April 28 for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X. Respawn has been very selective with the details it's shared recently, but the latest deep dive revealed that Jed: Survivor will include Breath of the Wild-esque dungeons filled with puzzles for Cal to solve. I highly doubt there's a Spirit Orb waiting for you at the end though.
