Spurs’ 1 Big Concern About Chris Paul

The San Antonio Spurs made something of a big move this summer when they added Chris Paul alongside Victor Wembanyama.

The hope, obviously, is that Paul imparts his wisdom and experience on a relatively young squad in a way that doesn’t alienate them.

That said – there were some initial hesitations about Paul. Especially given his propensity for beefing with people.

According to ESPN’s Brian Windhorst, the Spurs initially had one big concern about Paul

“In speaking to folks there, bringing in Chris Paul and Harrison Barnes, they obviously had their reasons why they wanted that veteran presence there,” Windhorst said.

“There was some uncertainty I would say — I wouldn’t say it was concern — but there was some wonder from the Spurs. How were all these young guys gonna adapt to dealing with these two veterans who come in and — to put it kindly — Chris Paul has a big voice on teams that he’s on. With Victor leading the way, the acceptance of Chris Paul’s leadership technique…has gone very well in San Antonio, better than they thought, I am told.”

What sort of impact will Paul ultimately have on the Spurs? Time will tell.
