Sonic Frontiers Could Get A Boss Rematch Mode In A Future Update

Sonic Frontiers' Titan boss battles are a whole lot of fun, letting us fly around as Super Sonic and chain up a bunch of the attacks we've learned on the skill tree. However, once they're gone, they're gone. There's no boss rush mode, and no way to re-challenge then. But that could be about to change.

In response to a fan on Twitter, Sonic Frontiers director Morio Kishimoto confirms that being able to fight the Titans all over again is frequently requested by fans. He says the team is "considering" it, so it's possible that we'll see this feature implemented once the already-announced updates are live.

"A rematch with Titan[s] has been requested by many people, so we are considering it," says Kishimoto, responding to a fan. "Please look forward to future updates."

Of course, this isn't a definitive confirmation that this update is on the way, but it's clear that the devs are aware that it's something the fans are after.

However, it seems that Sonic Team has its work cut out for it right now. It's already been confirmed that work on the next Sonic Game - which is set to have a bigger budget - has begun. This is on top of Frontiers still being supported by the devs, with a wave of updates already set for 2023. This will add new playable characters and a new story, as well as smaller features like new challenges and a photo mode.

Yet with Sega seemingly looking towards the future, it's not clear if Frontiers will get much support beyond this current roadmap. Kishimoto himself has implied that another 2D Sonic Game is in the works, which might not leave the team much time to keep Frontiers afloat. And with Frontiers not quite reaching the Metacritic score Sega was hoping for, it's possible that the publisher will want to try again on a new title, rather than update an older one.
