Shakira talks love and music with ‘Elle’

Colombian H๏τtie Shakira is getting lots of attention this year for her work on The Voice and her adorable son Milan with soccer star boyfriend Gerard Pique. So, naturally Elle tapped her to be the cover girl for its July issue, which is out June 25. She shared her thoughts on faith, love and motherhood with the mag:

On being the sole female on The Voice: “In general, I think I’ve treated the boys with mercy.”

On losing faith before finding love again: “I think, if you can prove the existence of God, it can only be proven through love. I even had lost my faith for a while. I was becoming as agnostic. And it was really hard, because I was always very religious, and for a few years, maybe because — it sounds so corny — I was not feeling the love like it was supposed to be, I started to think that there was no God. And suddenly I meet Gerard and the sun comes out.”

On the challenges of motherhood: “I’m still trying to figure it out. And I have a feeling I will try to do the same for the rest of my life. Some people put it like it’s very idyllic, some people put it like it’s a torturing experience, but it’s not quite one thing or the other. It’s like life — it comes with everything.”

On what’s next musically: “I have no idea of where I want to go musically, but I’m fine that way. I don’t need to remain faithful to any concept, you know.
