Scott Brown Could Face Celtic This Weekend – Report
Scott Brown could be in the dugout for St Johnstone this weekend, with Celtic set to visit the Perthsire side on Saturday night.
The Saints have approached Ayr United and are set to hold talks with the former Celtic skipper, with the aim to have a manager appointed before the weekend rolls around, reports Stephen McGowan of the Daily Mail.
Should the appointment happen quickly, it could set up a dramatic scenario where Brown faces his old team and his former manager, Brendan Rodgers.
Of course, the two have already met this season, with the teams playing each other in pre-season, but the circumstances were much different to what they could be this weekend.
Broony has been doing superbly with Ayr in the Championship, sitting at the top of the league without a loss.
The former Scotland international is still quite early into his managerial career, only on his second job.
He has a big decision to make, though: leave a promotion-chasing side that he’s got playing some great stuff or join a relegation-battling St Johnstone.
His first job was with a side battling relegation, taking over EFL side Fleetwood Town. In his first season, he kept them in the league and got them a great FA Cup run, but in his second season, poor results and sitting in the relegation places saw him get the sack.
