NEW YEAR FRESH START

I love the beginning of a New Year! It’s filled with hope and excitement for what may be. I’ve learned all these years later (as far as I’m concerned) not to make resolutions or promises to myself, as I set myself up for failure. I do, however, begin each New Year with an idea of how I’d like it to go, but stay open to lots of detours and paths I don’t see coming. I can’t change things around me, but I can change my attitude towards them and approach them differently. I hope that I’m not who I was last year because I’d like to think I’ve outgrown 2022 and learned a lot along the way. I think, even if nothing particularly extraordinary happened last year, I can say I was provided for, protected, and loved by God. That’s a lot!

Hey, here’s to 2023! Another shot to become who we are all destined to be. Whatever THAT is.

“You can’t go back and change the beginning, but you can start where you are and change the ending.” – C.S. Lewis

Happy 2023 – Make it count!

Till next week,

Jen

MANY UNHAPPY RETURNS

A new report predicts consumers will return more than one point four billion dollars in holiday purchases this season. Software company, SALESFORCE, says that’s a 57% increase over 2021. U.S online sales were up 5%, totaling $245 billion. The report suggests that part of the uptick could be from consumers who purchased gifts earlier this year, returned them, and then repurchased them later to score a better discount.

FORTRESS OF SOLITUDE

According to a recent survey with 2,000 respondents, most people go sit on their toilet, whether they have to go, or not, for some “quality” alone time. 51% say they hide out on the throne when they need a slice of peace and quiet. Parents with kids still living at home are THREE TIMES as likely to seek refuge in the bathroom as childless, single folks. SERENITY, NOW!

HOW CAN WE MISS YOU IF YOU WON’T GO AWAY

According to NFL pundit, Ian Rapoport, “the door is wide open” for yet another return of Rob Gronkowski. Where he’d play is anybody’s guess. Gronk’s on record (in the past) as saying he’d only sign with a team Tom Brady’s on. Brady’s a free agent at season’s end. Could the GOAT finish his career as a Patriot and will Gronk come along for a package deal? At least it gives Pats fans something to talk about other than this season’s painful performance.

LOOK OUT BELOW

Folks in Florida are dealing with colder temps than they like these days, but they’re also keeping their eye to the sky. That’s because it’s happening again… FALLING IGUANAS AND LIZARDS! Cold weather causes the reptiles’ bodies to shut down and fall from trees. Once they warm up, however, they’re OK. Any coldblooded creature feels the effects of the cold, but it’s dramatic for lizards since they live in trees.
