Resident Evil 4 Remake Modders Are Extending The Demo
In case you haven't heard, Resident Evil 4 Remake has a free demo available now where you can play through the Game's opening sequence. It's basically everything up until the main title card appears just after the villagers all get called to church while Leon is left wondering if everyone went to play bingo. The demo is designed to give fans a first impression and veterans a sense of what's new and improved in the remake.
The demo normally lasts roughly 30 minutes, but it can be shorter if you’re particularly good at killing Plagas-infested villagers. Or, if you want, you could make the demo endless by installing the Never Bingo mod courtesy of FluffyQuack. The mod just removes the kill limit as well as the time limit for the demo, allowing Leon to endlessly murder villagers until he runs out of ammo.
Another mod that’s expanding the demo without Capcom’s permission (not that modders ever asked for or needed permission to do anything) is the Village Expanded mod from Scoovy. This mod does as advertised by allowing Leon to explore a few areas that are normally off-limits in the demo. Some of those areas aren’t completed portions of the Game, however, so there’s a risk of Leon falling through the floor. If that happens, you’ll have to restart as there’s no way of getting back up again.
The Village Expanded mod will need to be installed using Fluffy Manager, while the Never Bingo mod is a .rar file that will just need to be extracted into your Resident Evil 4 Demo's install folder. You can find all of these over on Nexus Mods. Note that it’s unlikely either mod will work when the actual Game releases on March 24.
If you feel like you're starting to have your fill of the demo, there's one additional difficulty level that you might want to try. Mad Chainsaw Mode adds an extra layer of difficulty that will make it pretty hard for Leon to survive, and you can activate it by entering a secret code on the main menu screen.
