Report – Scott Brown Set for Ayr United Stay Despite Premiership Job Talks
Celtic legend Scott Brown is set to stay at Ayr United despite links to the vacant managerial position at St. Johnstone.
According to a report from Stephen McGowan in the Daily Mail this evening, Brown has withdrawn from the race to become the new boss of the Perth side.
Although he was St. Jonstone’s top target to replace Craig Levein, after he held talks with the club’s American owner, Adam Webb, Brown made the decision to stay put at Somerset Park.
Celtic fans were looking forward to a possible reunion with the 39-year-old at McDiarmid Park this Saturday night in the Scottish Premiership, but it is not to be.
Instead, Brown will keep all his eggs in the Ayr basket and look to guide them towards a return to the top flight this term.
His side have made a storming start to the season and currently sit pretty at the top of the Scottish Championship.
Key striker Anton Dowds has recently been ruled out for the season, but Brown will look to push on and make History with Ayr.
It feels inevitable that he will one day return to Celtic in some capacity, so Celtic fans are keeping a keen eye on Brown’s managerial career.
So far, he has done respectably well, but how Ayr’s season pans out could be telling of his credentials.
