We know that 2022/23 was the season of Erling Haaland, but was 2023 the year of the Nordic machine?

The Manchester City phenom broke the Premier League's single-season scoring record in year one, with his goals firing Pep Guardiola's side to a remarkable treble.

As you might've expected, Haaland hasn't quite been able to match the unrelenting scoring rate of 2022/23 in year two, but the Norwegian hitman has certainly remained prolific with City going in search of an unprecedented fourth-straight Premier League title.

However, it's not just Haaland who's impressed with his unerring efficiency in front of goal. The Premier League is home to a whole host of sharpshooters who regularly found the back of the net in 2023.

Here were the Premier League's ten top scorers of 2023.

10. Bukayo Saka

Goals scored: 14

Arsenal's starboy enjoyed yet another stellar year, and his productive campaign almost spearheaded a Premier League title challenge. The winger's form took somewhat of a hit as the 2022/23 reached its conclusion - potentially due to the sheer number of minutes he racked up.

And while Saka has rarely dominated matches as he did the previous campaign at the start of 2023/24, the England international's knack for producing the moment to tilt a contest means he's still putting up impressive numbers.

9. Dominic Solanke

Games played: 37
Goals scored: 15

It may have taken some time, but Solanke is finally starting to prosper at the highest level.

While the former Liverpool striker had enjoyed plenty of success with Bournemouth in the Championship, he'd scored just ten Premier League goals before the 2023/24 season in just less than 100 appearances.

However, Andoni Iroala is starting to get the best out of Solanke, with the English forward critical to Bournemouth's red-hot form to conclude 2023. 12 of his 15 Premier League goals in the calendar year have arrived this season.

8. Jarrod Bowen

Games played: 39
Goals scored: 15

2023 will live long in Bowen's memory as a result of his work in the Europa Conference League final. The West Ham star may never score a more significant goal.

With Michail Antonio remaining fairly profligate, Bowen has been thrust with much of the goalscoring burden for David Moyes' side. More often than not, however, the Englishman produced the goods for the Hammers.

The versatile attacker has been complemented by multiple gifted playmakers in east London for 2023/24.

7. Alexander Isak

Games played: 33
Goals scored: 16

2022/23 was somewhat of a frustrating one for the Swedish international, but Isak nonetheless played a key role in Newcastle's rise to Champions League qualification.

The forward added a much-needed swagger to the Magpies' play in the final third, with the eight goals he scored during the second half of his debut campaign propelling Newcastle into the top four.

2023/24 began with six goals in eight Games, but a nagging groin issue has proved problematic in recent weeks.

6. Harry Kane

Games played: 22
Goals scored: 17

The former Tottenham superstar didn't need the whole year to make the top ten. Before he opted to switch north London for Bavaria in the summer, Kane put a dire Spurs side on his back.

Kane's prolific 2022/23 campaign was overshadowed by Haaland's heroics. 17 of his 30 strikes came in the new year as his record-breaking Tottenham stay fittingly ended with a hatful of goals.

5. Son Heung-min

Games played: 42
Goals scored: 19

Son remained productive in 2022/23 despite struggling for form, and the South Korean would admit in the summer that he was constantly playing through pain.

He scored seven goals during the second half of the season as Spurs' season faltered to an apathetic conclusion.

The loveable figure has since been emboldened by Ange Postecoglou's appointment and his new responsibility as captain. Son has been in majestic form at the start of the Aussie's tenure, scoring 12 goals in 20 league Games.

4. Callum Wilson

Games played: 33
Goals scored: 19

Wilson may not get the plaudits of some of his contemporaries, including teammate Isak, but the English forward certainly knows where the goal is.

Wilson's impressive strike rate of a goal every 87 minutes means only Serhou Guirassy, Kane, Lautaro Martinez, and Kylian Mbappe scored more regularly than the Newcastle man in 2023.

3. Ollie Watkins

Games played: 42
Goals scored: 21

Watkins certainly hasn't been shy of purple patches during his stay at Villa Park, but the England international is starting to enjoy sustained runs of imperious goalscoring form.

He's absolutely loving life under Unai Emery, and his supreme finish to 2022/23 has been backed up by a productive first half to 2023/24. Watkins has nine goals in 20 games this term and surely has a claim for being the second-best striker in the Premier League following Kane's exit.

2. Mohamed Salah

Games played: 41
Goals scored: 24

2022/23 was a season of disappointment for Liverpool considering the prosperity of 2021/22, but Salah's unrelenting scoring knack failed to waver despite his side's woes.

After finishing fifth last term. the Reds look emboldened and poised to compete for the title again this time around. Salah's remarkable efficiency in the final third has remained, and it's his goals that will inspire Liverpool's challenge.

1. Erling Haaland

Games played: 35
Goals scored: 29

Duh. After quite literally breaking the Premier League in year one, it should come as no surprise that Haaland tops the 2023 scoring charts.

The Norwegian hitman failed to score on three of his last four league appearances last term, and while he hasn't matched his rate of scoring in 2023/24, Haaland certainly hasn't been goal-shy. The City striker currently leads the Golden Boot race with 14 goals.
