The Philadelphia Phillies and the Washington Nationals will meet in DC for game two of divisional series this Saturday from Nats Park. Washington held off a Philly comeback to win by one last night, 8-7.

Phillies Betting Preview

Philadelphia moved to 25-32 after falling to Washington. The Phillies nearly stole Game one after trailing throughout, and they’ll seek better results Saturday. The Philadelphia offense is scoring 4.07 runs per Game, while batting .266, with a .322 on-base percentage. The pitching staff carries a 4.95 ERA, with a 1.37 WHIP. Bryce Harper leads Philly batting (.292), despite being held hit less in his return to DC yesterday. quiet series in Atlanta. Nick Castellanos went bonkers in Game one, going deep twice and playing five runs to bring his team-lead in RBI to 34. Trea Turner doubled and scored for the second Game in a row in his return to Nats Park.

Matt Strahm (4-3, 3.20 ERA, 52 Ks) will begin the Game for Philadelphia. The eighth-year lefty has become one of the stronger relief pitchers in the league this season. Strahm has held team’s scoreless in five of his last eight appearances, while allowing more than one run just once.

Nationals Betting Preview

Washington moved to 23-32 after falling to Los Angeles. The Nationals have now dropped three straight, and they’ll look to avoid feeling the brooms here in Game three. The Washington offense is scoring 3.42 runs per Game, while batting .267, with a .330 on-base percentage. The pitching staff carries a 4.56 ERA, with a 1.44 WHIP. Joey Meneses has recorded hits in eight of the last ten Games, and he leads the Nats in batting (.305) and RBI (30). Lane Thomas has a hit in nine of the last ten Games, and he leads the team in runs scored (36). Jeimer Candelario has plated three runs in back-to-back Games, and he’s up to 28 RBI.

MacKenzie Gore (3-3, 3.57 ERA, 74 Ks) will get the ball for Washington. The second-year pitcher is coming off of his best outing of the season, striking out eleven in seven full innings of work in Kansas City, while holding the Royals to just one run. Gore sadly didn’t receive the winning decision, but it was good to see him bounce back from two tough outings with such a strong performance. Gore may have a tough time building on that here with Bryce Harper and Trea Turner back in town.

Philadelphia vs Washington Trends

Philly is 27-24 against the spread this season, with a 25-22-1 O/U record. Washington is 25-21 ATS this year, with a 23-22-1 over/under record.

Corey’s Free Pick

Philly came awfully close last night to stealing Game one from Washington, and I think they complete their mission this time around. The Phillies have been banged up and underwhelming at times, but we saw how potent their lineup can be, and they could find a way to give MacKenzie Gore trouble. Back Philadelphia for some revenge in Game two, and give the Over a look again after last night’s fireworks at the plate.
