Peter Vindahl Jensen Profiled; Celtic’s Number One Goalkeeping Target

Celtic remain on the hunt to replace Joe Hart this summer, with several names being mentioned as potential successors to the Englishman.

The likes of Martin Dubravka and Ugurcan Cakir have previously been linked, but the Hoops’ number one target is Peter Vindahl Jensen.

Last night, it was reported that the Hoops are in talks to sign the Danish shot-stopper and remain confident of getting a deal done.

26, Jensen is just coming into his peak years as a goalkeeper. He only signed permanently for Sparta Prague this summer after a prosperous loan spell last term where he played 47 times in all comPetitions.

It was his second temporary spell away from AZ Alkmaar having spent the first six months of 2023 with Nuremberg in Germany’s second tier.

Jensen has already amassed just under 200 appearances in the senior Game. Capped at youth level by Denmark, he has respectable experience having played in the Dutch and Czech top flights. The ‘keeper also has 10 Europa League Games under his belt, including two against Rangers last year, in which he kept one clean sheet.

At 6’4, Jensen is coMMAnding. A good shot-stopper, he is also more than capable with the ball at his feet, which will attract Brendan Rodgers.

His Transfermarkt value currently sits at three million euros, but Sparta reportedly wants £8m for his services because they only signed him permanently this summer. At that price, Celtic certainly have the financial capability to do Business.

Let’s see what the next few weeks bring, and whether Jensen is between the sticks for the champions’ Scottish Premiership curtain-raiser clash with Kilmarnock.
