Nicolas Kuhn was “Overwhelmed” by Celtic Experience
Nicolas Kuhn came through the ranks of clubs who always went deep into the Champions League, fuelling a dream to one day play in the competition himself.
With Celtic, he achieved that dream, bringing an emotional charge not just for him but for his closest supporters.
The tricker winger came through the ranks and Ajax and Bayern Munich. He also had a stint with RB Leipzig, a team that will make the trip to Celtic Park in the coming months in the Champions League.
He opened up on his Champions League debut after fulfilling his dream putting in a great performance. [RecordSport]
“It was unbelievable. The atmosphere was crazy. I think it was one of the best nights I’ve ever experienced in Football. It was amazing. Every little boy is dreaming of playing in the Champions League, it was a long journey and finally arriving at such a stadium was unreal. A lot of friends were here and my girlfriend. I think they were crying
“It was more than I expected. After the anthem it was so loud it was amazing. Everyone said they are special nights and now I can say I have played in a Game here.
“When I was on a year loan from Bayern, I said in the second league in Germany, the goal is Champions League and one day, hopefully, national team. I was 2020/21, that was my goal and I didn’t care what other people said.
“It’s what I believe I can achieve and that was my feeling. It was the goal for a long time, so yeah, the first 20 minutes was just a little bit overwhelmed from the crowd and everything, but then it was fine.”
He delivered one assist in the Champions League opener, but had his teaMMAtes’ finishing been better, he could’ve had a few more. He was electric on the right side, causing havoc and running a riot. He created the most chances in the match and completed the most dribbles, not a surprising stat to anyone who watched the Game.
After not really living up to expectations last season, struggling with some things when he arrived, he’s really stepped up this season and impressed. He’s delivering on the pitch now, and is one of Celtic’s star performers so far this season.
