The Philadelphia Eagles suffered a disappointing loss to the Atlanta Falcons on Monday Night Football after some questionable calls by head coach Nick Sirianni and an interception thrown by quarterback Jalen Hurts sealed their fate in the final moments. It didn’t help the Eagles that they were playing without their star receiver A.J. Brown.

Brown was sitting out of the Game due to a hamstring injury he suffered in Friday’s practice last week. The MNF Game against the Falcons was the first Game he’d missed since he was traded to the Eagles in 2022.

How long will A.J. Brown be out for the Eagles?

Brown himself told ESPN’s Lisa Salters that he “expects to miss a couple weeks”.

Sirianni was a bit more vague when he answered the question of when Brown would return and whether or not he’d have to miss multiple games. Fresh off the frustrating loss on Monday, Sirianni said he just doesn’t know yet.

“We’ll see. We’ll see. I don’t know that yet,” Sirianni said. “You know I won’t give you that information yet because I don’t know. We’ll see how that goes.”

Brown is one of the best receivers in the league and missing any more time is not good for Philly. His 119 receiving yards and touchdown in the season opener helped the Eagles clinch the 34-29 victory over the Green Bay Packers in Brazil. The Eagles just signed Brown to a three-year, $96 million contract extension this offseason.

In his absence, wide receivers DeVonta Smith and Jahan Dotson will need to step up. Last month, just a few weeks before the start of the regular season, the Eagles traded with the Washington CoMMAnders for Dotson. On Monday, Dotson played 79% of the offensive snaps but was only targeted by Hurts once and ended the night with one reception for six yards.

Without Brown in the Game, the Eagles relied a lot on their ground Game, with 186 yards on the night. Opposing defenses will catch onto that quick though, so they’ll need Smith and Dotson to step up. In his two seasons with the CoMMAnders, Dotson logged 84 total receptions on 145 targets for 1,041 yards and 10 touchdowns.
