New York Knicks vs Philadelphia 76ers Over 215.5 (-110)

Joel Embiid is set to make his return from injury on Tuesday, which raises the offensive ceiling considerably for Philadelphia, particularly in this matchup. The Knicks have had a lot of trouble protecting the paint this season, as Karl-Anthony Towns and company are 29th in the league in defending at the rim, while also struggling to defend the 3-point line. That spells trouble against a Sixers side that should look to play through Embiid when he’s on the floor, which should create higher percentage scoring opportunities for the likes of Paul George, Jared McCain and others on the perimeter.

On the other side of the ball, the Sixers’ defense is just 20th in defensive rating this season, and they’ll be going up against a Knicks team that is second in offensive rating and should look to create mismatches with Jalen Brunson and Towns on the perimeter. Even though these teams were strong on defense a season ago, this particular Game should have plenty of points, so let’s take the over in Philly to start our NBA parlay picks.

Phoenix Suns -3.5 over Utah Jazz (-108)

The lowly 2-7 Utah Jazz got a rare win on Saturday with a 111-110 triumph over the Spurs, ruining a lot of parlays as they were 6.5-point underdogs in that game. However, the Jazz don’t have much going for them at the moment, as they haven’t won a home game yet in 4 attempts and opening the Emirates NBA Cup at Delta Center against the Suns could spell trouble. Star player Lauri Markkanen is ramping up his minutes post-injury, but he’s still shooting only 36% from the field.

Phoenix should be winning this Game fairly easily, regardless if whether they have Kevin Durant. The Jazz are just 24th in defensive rating, while on offense only the Trail Blazers have a worse effective field goal percentage. They also turn the ball over 16.7 times per Game, which is the 4th-highest rate in the NBA. Phoenix has won 8 of 10 meetings and is on a 6-Game win streak right now. They’re also 7-1 in 8 visits to Salt Lake City. I’m taking Booker and company to cover as slight favorites here as the next leg of our NBA parlay.

Dallas Mavericks ML over Golden State Warriors (+120)

The frustration on Luka Doncic’s face was quite visible following Monday’s 122-120 loss to Denver. It was the 2nd game in a row that the Mavs have lost by 1 possession, and I feel like a response is coming tonight in Klay’s return to Bay Area. Kyrie Irving just had a 43-point explosion against the Nuggets and I’m expecting another big-time performance here as he is averaging 29.2 points per game in his last 5 against the Warriors.

Golden State has had a really good start to the new season, but this will be their first home game after a grueling 5-game trip where they played Boston, Cleveland and Oklahoma City in their last 3 games. Teams are known to come out a bit flat in scenarios like this, so I’m looking for Dallas to take advantage of that. The Mavs have been reliable on the road, even dating back to last season. They’ve covered the spread in 13 of 20 road games, plus they’re also 6-1 ATS in 7 meetings with the Warriors. I’m counting on Klay to get his revenge here, so let’s back Dallas to pull off the upset and beat Golden State to wrap up tonight’s NBA parlay picks.
