Game 2 of the NBA Finals tips off at 8:00 pm ET tonight and the Nuggets are 8.5-point favorites at home. In the first matchup, it went pretty much as most bettors expected: a Nikola Jokic triple-double, Miami looking exhausted coming off the 7-game series with Boston, and the Nuggets continuing to show why they were the most efficient offense in basketball this season.

The Nuggets were able to consistently get good shots and the Heat struggled mightily from deep, shooting 33% in the game and only 23% at halftime. There will be adjustments in Game 2 on both sides. I’m expecting Jokic to be more aggressive offensively compared to Game 1 (12 FGA) and we could also see Kevin Love slide into the rotation after a DNP. Gabe Vincent under 13.5 points (-113)

Line available at FanDuel Sportsbook at the time of publishing.

Gabe Vincent was the rare bright spot for Miami in Game 1, finishing with 19 points on 50% shooting and going 5/10 from 3-point range. To me, he looked like a defensive liability when matching up with Jamal Murray. Vincent was being hunted and easily taken off the dribble by Murray. Unfortunately for Heat coach Erik Spoelstra, he had to keep Vincent on the floor as he was the only one scoring from the perimeter (Max Strus and Duncan Robinson were 1/16 on the Game).

Tonight, I’m expecting Vincent’s minutes to be slightly reduced and his shooting to regress. Butler needs to be more aggressive offensively and the Strus-Robinson combo should be better shooting from beyond the arc, simply because they cannot be much worse. Eight of Vincent’s 19 points came in the 4th quarter when he had the green light to shoot as the Heat were down 21 points. Again, I do not see this type of opportunity for Vincent to be the lead scoring option. 1U

Kyle Lowry over 3.5 assists (+102)

Line available on Caesars Sportsbook at the time of publishing.

I loved this line at plus-money odds in Game 1, when Kyle Lowry finished with 5 assists on 11 potential. He finished Game 1 with +2 in the box score +/- and although it’s a flawed stat, it should hold some merit. This ties in similarly to the Vincent play above, as Lowry’s minutes should increase and even if they do not, this is still a great play at these odds.

It’s worth mentioning that Lowry finished with 5 assists despite Robinson and Strus going an abysmal 1/16 from the field, which will be very difficult to replicate. I love this at plus-money. 1U

Michael Porter Jr. over 23.5 points + rebounds (-109)

Line available on Caesars Sportsbook at the time of publishing.

Do you know who led the Nuggets in rebound chances in Game 1? No, it was not Nikola Jokic. It was Michael Porter Jr. with 21 potential and 13 rebounds. MPJ is an X-Factor to me in this series for his sheer size advantage over almost everyone on the Heat roster. He’s bigger than Bam Adebayo, who has his hands full with Jokic, so there aren’t many players in the Heat rotation who can stop Porter Jr. in the lane or match up on the perimeter.

MPJ finished Game 1 with 27 points and rebounds despite a down shooting night as he went 5/16 from the field and 2/11 from 3-point range. I’m expecting his scoring to improve while his rebounding levels off to near 9-10. 1U
