Days Of The Year Calendar 2023 - Now Available!

The best inheritance a parent can give his children is a few minutes of his time each day.

Whether sons and daughters are young or old, teenagers or toddlers, the bond between parent and child is like no other on earth and this annual celebration ensures the miracle of bringing new life into the world is never forgotten.

National Son and Daughter Day has been created so that you can let your children know how special they are, and vice versa. It is a great opportunity for families to spend special moments together. Life is lived at such a fast pace today, and so it can be easy to let moments pass us by. That’s why National Son and Daughter Day is such a special day. You can learn about what inspires your children. Find out about their hopes and dreams. You can learn about each other and teach other different things. It’s all about spending quality time together.

After all, the time that we share with our children can be fleeting. We often hear parents remark at the fact that their children have grown up within the blink of an eye. Plus, not only do kids grow up, but their needs and their interests change as well. This is why it is important to make time for some special moments with our children.

Strengthening your bond with your children

Being a parent is not easy, and sometimes we need to work hard on the relationships that we have with our children. There are a number of different things that you can do in order to strengthen parent-child relationships. This includes telling your children that you love them every day. It does not matter how old or they are or whether or not they say it back (after all, a lot of children reach that age whereby they feel too embarrassed!); you should tell your children that you love them.

Aside from this, you should spend some time to play with your children every day. This could be anything from singing songs together to playing board Games. No matter what you do, simply make sure that it is something that you enjoy together. Older children enjoy playing computer Games, chess, and cards, so don’t think that they won’t enjoy some quality time with you.

Another way to strengthen your bond with your children is to let them help you. Sometimes parents inadvertently miss out on the chance for closeness because they do not allow their kids to assist them with different chores and tasks. Children like to do what their parents are doing. Yes, it can often be easier to simply do tasks yourself. However, by getting your children involved, it helps to create a closer bond and it makes your child feel important. For example, if you are unloading the groceries after going to the store, choose a light bag, and ask your child if they would carry it in for you. You may think that little things like this don’t matter, but they really can make a difference when it comes to the bond that you share with your little ones.

History of National Son and Daughter Day

Though the origins of National Son and Daughter Day are unknown, it is celebrated widely across the world simply by parents spending time with their children and letting them know how special they are to them. The best gift to give on National Son and Daughter Day is the gift of time.

It is worth pointing out that there have been some records of National Son and Daughter Day in History. For example, the earliest observance of this day can be dated back to the 11th of August in 1988. It is mentioned in an article from the Nanaimo Daily News, which is for the British Columbia region in Canada. However, if you dig deeper, you will find that there have been references to this date even earlier in History. For instance, in the St. Joseph News-Press Gazette, this date was referenced on the 20th of August in 1944.

One of the earliest mentions of someone having a specific idea for a National Son and Daughter Day come with K Henry Dusenberry in 1936. This is when he pursued the idea of a National Son and Daughter Day after he had heard a child ask why there was not such a date already. Because of this, he began the day in Missouri, and it started to spread from there. In honor of the date, parents would place a flower representing each of their kids in a vase, placing it in a prominent room in their home. On this date, parents would gaze at their flowers and think about their children, especially if their children no longer lived with them.

How to celebrate National Son and Daughter Day

When you look into your mother’s eyes, you know that is the purest love you can find on this earth.

If your children are still living at home, take some time out of your schedule to truly enjoy their company. If your children have moved away, make sure they return so you can spend quality family time together.

There are lots of ways you can spend some fun times with your children. If you have young children, why not take them out for a fun outing and let them know how much they mean to you? You could go to the park or to the cinema, for example. You could go out for a family meal. The options are endless. It is also a good idea to give your children a big hug in the morning and tell them how much you love them. We are sure this is something you already do, but make a conscious effort to do it on National Son and Daughter Day.

You could also have fun making a meal or a treat together at home. Whether you make your own homemade pizza or have fun creating individual ice-cream sundaes; it is up to you! It’s all about spending some fun times together and having something tasty!

If you have older children and they do not live at home anymore, make plans early to do something special together on National Son and Daughter Day.
