With summer coming up in just a short amount of time, the days are getting longer and the weather is getting hotter. And that makes this the perfect time of year to enjoy and celebrate the cool simplicity of the grape popsicle.

That’s right, it’s time for National Grape Popsicle Day!

History of National Grape Popsicle Day

Grape popsicles are a delicious treat that provide a classic nostalgia for kids and adults alike. It seems that the origins of popsicles actually date back to an accident that happened in San Francisco in the early 1900s. The story goes that an eleven-year-old boy was mixing water with white powdered flavoring in an attempt to make soda. Called away from his experiment, he forgot the items outside and when he woke up the next morning, the drink had frozen with the stirring stick inside – the world’s first popsicle!

Later, when that little boy was in his twenties, he turned the popsicle into a Business idea, selling them at events and amusement parks in the early 1920s. From here, the grape popsicle (and other flavors, too) became a popular frozen treat that has lasted to this day.

National Grape Popsicle Day offers a perfect opportunity to take a little bite out of History and enjoy one of these iced confections. Of course, the day is even better when shared with friends. So grab some grape popsicles and make them a reason to celebrate!
