Metal Gear Solid 3 Remake And New Castlevania Reportedly At E3 2023

Rumors have been swirling for years about a potential Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater remake, with Virtuous said to be leading the charge. That's because we saw a recruitment video last October where an artist had "The Art of Metal Gear Solid" open on his desk. Virtuous also lists Konami as one of its many clients and also notes engineers with experience using FOX Engine, which Konami used to create Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain.

Now we have yet another report of Metal Gear Solid 3 getting remade courtesy of the VGC Podcast. Reporter Andy Robinson reiterated previous reports that Konami is working on a new Castlevania and will soon announce the Metal Gear Solid 3 remake, and we might even get both of them at E3.

"Konami is going to have a pretty big E3 from my understanding," Robinson said, noting how Konami has plans to revive all its big IPs through collaborations with other developers. This started with Silent Hill last year when Konami announced several Silent Hill projects, but Castlevania and Metal Gear are also up for revival.

"I'm pretty sure they're gonna have an E3 booth, and they'll probably hold a press conference as a platform holder," Robinson said. "There's a new Castlevania in addition to the Dead Cells DLC that they announced at The Game Awards. That's the furthest along that I've been told." He also said there's going to be an announcement for the "much-discussed Metal Gear Solid 3 remake, which I also expect them to finally show."

What's "less clear," according to Robinson, is what Konami will do with the older Metal Gear Solid Games. Fans have been calling on Konami to bring back the entire franchise, but it's been hesitant with Metal Gear after the disastrous experience with Metal Gear Survive, the 2018 survival shooter that's set in the Metal Gear universe but without most of the iconic characters. Robinson suggested that Konami might use Metal Gear Solid 3 as a "testbed" for future remakes.

Konami hasn’t confirmed any of these rumors of course, so take everything you hear with a grain of salt.
