Metal Gear Solid 3 is not getting its remake until next year, according to an insider. Konami has been rumored to be remaking the third and arguably the best Game in the Metal Gear Solid franchise for some time now, with the latest info suggesting a big reveal at this year's E3. But with E3 in doubt, that same insider now says Metal Gear Solid 3 won't be making its grand entrance until 2024.

Saying he "would not be surprised at all" if E3 was canceled this year as more and more publishers pull out, VGC's Andy Robinson fielded questions from a fan about the MGS3 remake. He said that even if E3 doesn't go on as planned, Konami will still make some sort of announcement around the same time. He also suggested that the MGS3 remake has been pushed into 2024.

"MGS3 remake is now a 2024 title and there's still talk of MGS re-releases of some kind," he said. "E3 window was their marketing plan, last I heard."

Rumors of Metal Gear Solid 3 being remade have been circulating for some time. The remake is believed to be spearheaded by Chinese developer Virtuous, with recruitment videos showing "The Art of Metal Gear Solid" sitting on an artist's desk and Konami listed as one of Virtuous's clients on its site. Then just last month, Andy Robinson told his co-hosts on the VGC podcast that Konami will "finally show" the Metal Gear Solid 3 remake at this year's E3. That was before Ubisoft pulled out of this year's event, however.

Robinson also suggested the Metal Gear Solid 3 will be a "test bed" for future remake plans.

"The thing that's less clear," he said, "is what they're gonna do with these older Metal Gear Games that everyone's really desperate to see come back to the forefront so that we can all play again on modern platforms."

We’ll have to wait until E3 time to see what Konami has planned. In the meantime, here’s a video of Solid Snake espousing the virtues of the 2016 Ford Focus, which became Snake’s ride of choice through a curious coincidence.
