Indeed, Haksabanovic won’t play a part in the Game amidst a groin issue, which has kept him out for the past few weeks.

Regardless, the 25-year-old will cheer on his team from the sidelines as they aim to get off to the perfect start in the Europa League.

Ahead of Malmo’s clash with Rangers in Sweden tomorrow, Haksabanovic has admitted his lasting love for Celtic and how he thinks his new team have a good chance of getting one over on Philippe Clement’s men.

“Tomorrow, it’s going to be a special Game for me because I played for Celtic and I’m all for Celtic,” he told Football Scotland.

“Of course, I want to win tomorrow and it’s also special because I played for Celtic and I want my team to win and start the Europa League in a good way.

“I’m still injured unfortunately because I would want to play. If we do everything correctly, listen to the manager and follow the Game plan that we have, then we can have a good night tomorrow.

“I haven’t really spoken to anyone at Celtic. I believe in what we have here. It’s all about discipline, we know we can do it so we have to do it.

“Not just for me, but it would mean so much for the whole club. To have a good start in the Europa League would be so good.”

Malmo are currently brimming with confidence after beating Hacken 4-0 at the weekend.

They are flying at the top of the Swedish Allsvenskan and will hope to get one over the Ibrox club tomorrow.

Malmo have had success against Rangers in the past, and so has Haksabanovic.

He never scored against the Gers, but played in a fair few Glasgow derbies as Celtic won the treble under Ange Postecoglou in the 2022/23 season.

The Montenegrin’s time with the Bhoys, though, was ultimately marred by a telling social media post in which he hinted towards feeling undervalued by the club.

A loan to Stoke soon followed before Haksabanovic permanently departed the Scottish Premiership champions in the summer gone by.
