How to watch the August ‘Sturgeon Moon’ supermoon and blue moon in Australia 2023




Stargazers are in for a treat next month as two supermoons grace the night sky in a rare astronomical event.

The second supermoon of the year will occur next week when August’s Sturgeon Moon reaches its peak on Wednesday morning.

The Sturgeon Moon was named after the fish of the same name found in the Great Lakes in North America this time of year.

Australians can turn their eyes to the sky and catch the moon’s peak illumination about 4.32am AEST Wednesday, according to the Farmer’s Almanac.
