In a move that is sure to raise some eyebrows, the Patriots owner forked out a considerable amount of cash to secure a piece of memorabilia from the man who turned his team into one of the greatest dynasties in modern Sports History.

Robert Kraft paid a pretty penny for Tom Brady’s rookie card

Reports this week confirmed that New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft spent big on an item that’s actually quite small i.e., an autographed Tom Brady rookie card. As per reports, Kraft is said to have spent $120,000 to secure the piece of memorabilia, which reportedly was taken directly from Brady’s personal collection.

Where details are concerned, the card itself is from Upper Deck’s SP Authentic collection from the year 2000, and was auctioned by Brady at Sotheby’s, in collaboration with Fanatics. Indeed, the 47-year-old was present for the sale of his card and was seen sitting next to Kraft at Harlem Parish in New York when the franchise owner made his six-figure purchase. It is understood that a total of four Brady cards were sold on the day by Sotheby’s for a combined value of $800,000.

In the listing of Brady’s rookie card it was described as “Consigned directly to Sotheby’s by the game’s greatest passer, this is an incredibly rare opportunity to share a piece of collecting history with Tom Brady. Owned, held, and signed by the greatest to ever do it makes this item a true grail piece.”

As we know, Brady spent 20 of his 23 NFL seasons with the Patriots where he won six Super Bowls as the franchise’s starting quarterback. All of that, from a player who was a sixth-round pick by the Patriots in the 2000 NFL draft, just six years after the Patriots were bought by Kraft.
