Graeme Souness Makes Another Laughable Celtic-Rangers Gap Claim
Graeme Souness has once again claimed that the gap between Celtic and Rangers isn’t as big as people make out.
This claim comes off the back of Celtic’s pre-season and a perfect start to the season with great performances while Rangers dropped points at Hearts and struggled to perform in their 2-1 win over Motherwell. Not to mention their winless pre-season.
Despite the popular perception of a widening gulf, Souness insists that the difference between the two Glasgow giants isn’t as pronounced as many suggest.
Speaking on talkSPORT, Souness claimed that the derbies showed that there wasn’t much separating the teams, despite Celtic winning four and drawing another.
He said:”The discussion last season was about the gap and I don’t think there’s such a big gap, I really don’t. I think I saw four Games, two Old Firm Games of Rangers, watch them and Celtic on the telly when they’re on and I don’t see the gap being enormous.
“(Taking proper points off Celtic) is what wins you the league.
“Where is the gap now? You can argue all you want, I’m telling you. Logic and common sense tells me there’s not a lot in it. If Celtic go and get £30million and spend it wisely? That gap would get bigger.”
He clearly hasn’t watched a lot of Scottish Football. It’s a claim that is just through his loyalties to Rangers, rather than taking a step back and taking off his blue-tinted glasses.
Year after year we hear this yet, when it comes to it on the pitch, Celtic’s class oozes through.
