Giants 20 vs 27 Cowboys, summary: score, stats, highlights | NFL Week 13 Thanksgiving
Cowboys vs Giants Thanksgiving!
Cowboys' Thanksgiving feast includes win over Giants
The Cowboys finally zapped their six-Game losing streak at home with a win over the NFC East rivals New York Giants on Thanksgiving Day.
The Giants fall to 2-10 and the Cowboys improve to 5-7 after their 27-20 victory.
Giants
The Giants were playing with backup quarterback Drew Lock after releasing Daniel Jones and after Tommy DeVito became injured. Lock completed 21 of 32 passes for 178 yards, no passing touchdowns, an interception, and was sacked six times. He did have 57 rushing yards, including one 28-yard run that set up their first TD, plus an 8-yard rushing touchdown, but that one was too late in the game. RB Tyrone Tracy Jr. ended the game with nine carries for 32 yards and added another rushing TD to the Giants' score.
Safety Tyler Nubin had a good day, making 12 tackles, five solos, and one tackle for a loss.
Cowboys
For the Cowboys, Cooper Rush played his fourth game under center with Dak Prescott out for the season with his hamstring injury. He completed 21 of 36 passes for 195 yards and one touchdown and managed to avoid any sacks. Their offense as a whole played much better than usual this week. Running back Rico Dowdle had his first career 100-yard game, including his longest rush of 22 yards and his first rushing TD of the season. Wide receiver Brandin Cooks, who returned from a knee injury this week after being out since Week 4 (the last time they played the Giants), finished with three catches for 16 yards and a touchdown.
Linebacker DeMarvion Overshown had a huge day with nine total tackles, five solos, and one pick six that put the Cowboys ahead in the first half.
What's next?
The Cowboys will have a long break as they face the Cincinnati Bengals at home for Monday Night Football on December 9 at 8:15 p.m. ET.
The Giants host the New Orleans Saints on Sunday, December 8 at 1 p.m. ET.
Game highlights below.
Cowboys
Could the Cowboys make the playoffs? We take a look at their chances of making the NFL postseason
In case you're curious now that the Cowboys have won 2 in a row, they are still technically in the hunt for a Wild Card spot in the playoffs. I wrote this article before the win over the Giants, which has now bumped them to No. 12 in the NFC seeding (whereas before they were No. 14).
They are still two games out of a Wild Card spot and will need to not only catch up to the Commanders, but also catch up to the four other teams standing between them and the spot - Cardinals, Bucs, Rams, and 49ers.
The odds are still very slim, but the Cowboys are at least not playing for nothing anymore.
Best highlight of the game goes to...
Cowboys LB DeMarvion Overshown. In the 2nd quarter, he batted one of Drew Lock's passes away, sending it into the air. He then went running to catch it, making the interception, and ran it back into the end zone 23 yards for the score. Impressive.
Lock's TD
Lock made sure he got his rushing TD with this 8-yard run to keep the Giants in the game with just over 2 minutes left.
Dowdle's big day
Dowdle actually had a big day, recording his first 100-yard rushing game of his career.
Dowdle's TD
Cowboys RB Rico Dowdle made his first rushing TD of the season on this 6-yard run
Brandin Cooks TD
Cowboys WR Brandin Cooks had been out since the Cowboys' last meeting with the Giants in Week 4. He returned for the Thanksgiving game and made this TD catch after the Cowboys' second chance allowed for the opportunity.
Cooper Rush saved from a touchback
With the Giants on offense, LB Eric Kendricks sacked Lock and DeMarvion Overshown recovered it.
All that just for the Cowboys to turn it back over...or so it seemed.
Cooper Rush made it all the way to the red zone on the next drive but fumbled the ball when LB Bobby Okereke punched it out. Micah McFadden recovered it for the touchback.
BUT THEN, the officials ruled that Rush's knee was down before the ball came loose and gave them another shot at 3rd and goal.
Tyrone Tracy brings it home
RB Tyrone Tracy Jr. finished the job on this 1-yard run to put the Giants in the lead early in the Game.
Drew Lock's almost TD
The Giants released Daniel Jones, then lost QB Tommy DeVito to an injury. That left them to play this game with DrewLock under center. On the Giants' first drive, he made a 28-yard run and kicked the pylon. It was initially ruled a touchdown, but the review ruled him just short at the 1.

GAME TIME!
Giants won the toss and elected to defer.
Cowboys start us off on offense.
Here we go!
Almost go time
We're just moments away from kickoff at AT&T Stadium, where it's a chilly 50 degrees. But after their stadium roof mishap a few weeks ago, I think it's staying closed this time around.
National Anthem by Freddie Jones
Freddie Jones, the official trumpeter of the Dallas Cowboys and jazz player, played the National Anthem beautifully ahead of kickoff!
Nabers a thorn in Cowboys' side
Despite the Giants' disastrous season this year, they have one shining spot on the offense and that's rookie wide receiver Malik Nabers.
Nabers is having one of the best rookie seasons by a WR in NFL history. In the Giants' game against the Cowboys in Week 4, he had 12 catches for 115 yards before exiting early with a concussion. Through nine games, he has 67 receptions for 671 yards and three touchdowns.

Cowboys’ home woes
One thing working in the Giants’ favor is the fact that the Cowboys have been unable to win at AT&T Stadium this season. The last time the Cowboys were 0-5 at home was in 1989, a season which they ended 0-8 at home and 1-15 overall.
On the other hand, the only two games the Giants won this season were both on the road. They’re also averaging a lot more points on the road - 20.6 as opposed to 10 at home.

Cowboys and Giants INACTIVES
Giants Injuries
The biggest name missing from the Giants is obviously QB Tommy DeVito. He injured his arm in their 30-6 loss to the Bucs last week and has officially been ruled inactive for today's game. At this point in the season, the Giants will be fine to see what Drew Lock can do in his place against a division opponent on national television.

Giants get a chance to stop the run against Dallas
The Giants have struggled to stop the run this season. They gave up 156 yards to the Bucs last week, making their fifth straight game giving up 140 yards or more.
This game against the Cowboys could be their chance to change that as the Cowboys' rushing attack is basically nonexistent this season. They have yet to gain more than 137 yards in a game this season.
Last time the Cowboys and Giants met
The Cowboys and Giants are playing each other for the second time this season. They met in Week 4, with the Cowboys coming away with a 20-15 win. That was back when Daniel Jones and Dak Prescott were still on the field.

Cowboys lead overall series
The Cowboys lead the overall series against the Giants, 76–47–2. They have won 14 of their last 15 games with the one loss coming in 2020 as seen in the tweet below.
It's rare for the Cowboys and Giants to meet on Thanksgiving. Although the Giants used to be a staple on Thanksgiving Day, playing each year from 1929 through 1938, it's now the Cowboys who dominate the tradition, having played annually since 1966.
On Thanksgiving, the Cowboys and Giants have played each other just twice, in 1992 and 2022 and the Cowboys won both.
Giants and Cowboys - where they stand
This Thanksgiving game has shaped up to be much less intriguing than originally expected 13 weeks ago. Both teams have losing records and both are without their starting quarterbacks.
New York Giants
The Giants are at 2-9 and on a six-game losing streak, their only wins this season coming against the Cleveland Browns and Seattle Seahawks. The season is crumbling down around them and that was made no better by their release of quarterback Daniel Jones last week. They started QB Tommy DeVito last week against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and lost 30-7. Today, they will play even without DeVito as he suffered an arm injury last week and has been ruled out for the game against the Cowboys. Drew Lock will be under center instead. The Giants are dead last in the NFC East and NFC seeding.
Dallas Cowboys
The Cowboys aren't doing much better than the Giants, having a disastrous season of their own. They are at 4-7 coming into the game today after having shockingly defeated the Washington Commanders last week, snapping a five-game losing streak. Dallas has been dealing with injuries throughout the team and added starting quarterback Dak Prescott to that list in Week 9. He was ruled out for the season and since then, they've been relying on Cooper Rush at quarterback. The Cowboys are third in the NFC East and No. 14 in the NFC seeding.
Welcome!
Hello everyone and a very Happy Thanksgiving!
The second of the NFL's triple headers today features the New York Giants at Dallas Cowboys. It's Jen here bringing you all the action with live text updates including scores, stats, highlights, and commentary.
Today's NFC East showdown kicks off at 4:30 p.m. ET from AT&T Stadium! Here we gooooo.
