Exclusive: Mikael Lustig Plans Celtic Park UCL Return
Mikael Lustig wants to return to Celtic Park this season to experience the famous European atmosphere once again.
The Swede hung up his boots a few years back but remains as proud as ever to represent Celtic.
Indeed, he misses playing for the Bhoys and aims to Travel to Glasgow to catch one of their hotly anticipated league-phase clashes over the next few months.
“Hopefully I can catch a Champions League Game,” he exclusively told CeltsAreHere.com.
“I miss it a lot.”
The 37-year-old was playing for Celtic Legends in a charity Game against Manchester United Legends on Saturday, completing a full 90 minutes at Old Trafford.
The visitors came away victorious on penalties after the Game ended in a 1-1 draw in normal time, thanks to goals from Wayne Rooney and Gary Hooper.
The Travelling supporters were in fine voice throughout the match and rolled back the years to sing Lustig’s famous song.
He was delighted to see them again.
“It was amazing”, Lustig said.
“To play at Celtic Park is unbelievable, but every time you go away from home, the Celtic supporters [are there].
“I’m so proud to be a Celtic player.
“It’s my first time here at Old Trafford and you’re running out there and seeing Celtic fans. It’s amazing.”
The Swede spent seven and a half years in Glasgow, winning a colossal 16 trophies.
He is a modern-day club legend and was there for all of current manager Brendan Rodgers’ first stint in charge.
Now retired, it was pleasing to see the defender back in green and white this weekend.
Fans will look forward to his potential Parkhead return on a big European night soon.
