Clayton Kershaw might not have pitched in the World Series, but he certainly made up for it with his celebration.
The Los Angeles Dodgers star, who only pitched in seven Games this season while dealing with bone spurs in his left big toe after undergoing shoulder surgery in the offseason, partied shirtless after his team defeated the New York Yankees in Game 5 of the World Series on Wednesday, October 30, to take home the franchise’s eighth championship in History.
“As a man, we’ll all have to embrace the dad bod like Clayton Kershaw at some point,” fan account Dodgers Nation posted via X.
Another viewer at home wrote, “Clayton Kershaw is your dad at the street party with too much to drink. Congrats @Dodgers.”
Wearing his World Series champions hat, Kershaw, 36, drank from a Gatorade cup while embracing teammates like Kike Hernández and Freddie Freeman.
Kershaw’s wife, Ellen, and their four kids — daughter Cali, 9, and sons Charley, 8, Cooper, 4 and Chance, 2 — were also on hand to celebrate the shirtless shenanigans in New York City.
“Clayton Kershaw took his family photo with the #WorldSeries trophy with his shirt off!! 😂😂😂” reporter Darren M. Haynes shared via X along with a video of the moment. “Gotta love this guy!!”
The party raged on inside the Dodgers locker room, where a shirtless Kershaw was doused with beer and champagne by teammates including Shohei Ohtani.
While he didn’t take the mound during the postseason, Kershaw recently explained how he’s been relishing the role of mentor inside his team’s clubhouse.
“Obviously you want to be playing and be with the boys, but it’s been really, really fun, honestly,” Kershaw told MLB Network ahead of Game 3 on Tuesday, October 29. “Basically just being a kid and being at Yankee Stadium for a World Series Game with having a front-row seat and hanging out and watching our guys do their thing, it’s just been an amazing ride for us.”
Kershaw added, “I can’t say enough good things about this group, can’t say enough good things about just being in that clubhouse every day.”
