We are already into the Business end of the French Open, as the quarterfinals get underway on Tuesday. It’s an intriguing lineup especially on the men’s side, where Carlos Alcaraz is going up against Stefanos Tsitsipas and Novak Djokovic is facing Karen Khachanov. Aryna Sabalenka is among those in action in the women’s tournament.

Following another profitable 2-1 performance on Sunday, I still have momentum behind me. Let’s take a look at the best bets to be made for Day 10 at Roland Garros.

Aryna Sabalenka -1.5 sets over Elina Svitolina (-158)

The value on a straight-set win for Sabalenka isn’t amazing…but it’s good enough. The world #2 has won all 4 of her matches in straight sets so far. Now she faces an opponent in Svitolina who is making a borderline shocking appearance in the quarterfinals. The Ukrainian is coming back from the birth of her first child and although she racked up a decent number of victories heading into Roland Garros, none was particularly impressive. At this point there is no reason to be concerned about the clay-court surface for Sabalenka; she finished runner-up in Stuttgart (to Iga Swiatek), won the Madrid title (beat Swiatek) and is on a roll in Paris. All signs point to this being 1-way traffic.

Carlos Alcaraz vs. Stefanos Tsitsipas Over 35.5 games (-110)

As long as Tsitsipas takes just 1 set, we should be in the clear for this play. That’s not to say it will be easy because the Greek trails the head-to-head series with Alcaraz 4-0, but in a best-of-5 match on clay he should be able to get 1. Tsitsipas is arguably the third-best clay-court player in the world right now behind Alcaraz and Novak Djokovic (Rafael Nadal not included since he is inactive at the moment) and the 24-year-old is already a French Open runner-up (2021). Alcaraz lost a set to Taro Daniel in the second round, so the world #1 isn’t invincible. Tsitsipas has also dropped only 1 set this fortnight.

Karolina Muchova -2.5 games over Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova (-120)

Making a comeback from injury, Pavlyuchenkova had won only 4 matches on the main tour since the 2022 Australian Open. That’s 4 wins in more than 16 months, for those counting. This run to the quarterfinals has come completely out of nowhere, even for a former French Open runner-up (2021). I think it ends on Tuesday, and probably in emphatic fashion. Muchova has lost just 1 set through 4 rounds and her fortnight includes victories over No. 8 seed Maria Sakkari and an in-form No. 27 seed Irina Camelia-Begu.
