Cyberpunk: Edgerunners Wins Anime Of The Year At The Crunchyroll Anime Awards




Cyberpunk: Edgerunners was recently named Anime of the Year at the Crunchyroll Anime Awards. The show broke all sorts of different records last year, soaring to the top of the charts in terms of total viewership, becoming an astounding success for producers Netflix and CD Projekt. The series beat Demon Slayer, Attack on Titan, Lycoris Recoil, Ranking of Kings, and Spy x Family to win the award.

The Crunchyroll Anime Awards were started seven years ago to celebrate the best animated series and films of the year. The awards are decided by a panel of judges in addition to a popular vote. Anime of the Year is of course considered to be the most prestigious among the more than 20 different categories.

Cyberpunk: Edgerunners was created by Studio Trigger, a well known company which has worked on a number of popular anime including Kill la Kill, Little Witch Academia, and Promare. The series was directed by Hiroyuki Imaishi who is mostly known for his work on the anime Gurren Lagann.

The show has been widely praised for its remarkable visuals, fast paced action sequences, and engaging narrative. Cyberpunk: Edgerunners also collected numerous accolades for its diverse cast of characters, appealing to the broadest possible audience in the process.

The news about Cyberpunk: Edgerunners winning Anime of the Year has been met with excitement from fans of the series, many taking to social media in order to congratulate the team at Studio Trigger. In addition to Anime of the Year, the series won Best Voice Acting Performance and was nominated in several other categories, particularly Best Animation.

The show has been called an astonishing success for Netflix, CD Projekt, and Studio Trigger. While the popularity of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners can hardly be called into question, the series will apparently not be getting a second season, Community Manager at CD Projekt Satoru Honma saying there currently are no plans to continue the story.
