The Chicago Cubs will head out to Anaheim to begin an interleague series with the Los Angeles Angels this Tuesday from Angel Stadium on the MLB Network.
Cubs Betting Preview
Chicago comes in at 26-33 after splitting four Games with San Diego. The Cubs were shutout twice down the road in SD, and they’ll look for some consistency as they move up the coast to Anaheim. The Chicago offense is scoring 4.12 runs per Game, while batting .257, with a .335 on-base percentage. The pitching staff carries a 4.31 ERA, with a 1.27 WHIP. Dansby Swanson plated a pair of runs in the Game three victory, and he’s up to 26 RBI, and a team-lead 29 runs scored. Nico Hoerner homered in the Game two win, and he leads the Cubs in hits (61).
Hayden Wesneski (2-2, 5.24 ERA, 15 Ks) will get the call for Chicago. The second-year pitcher returned against Tampa last week, and managed to strike out four in 3.2 innings, while allowing just one run. Wesneski’s last road start prior to a DL stint did now go well in Minnesota, and he’ll look to avenge that effort here.

Angels Betting Preview
Los Angeles moved to 31-30 after dropping three of four to Houston. The Angels avoid a sweep by stealing the series finale, and they’ll aim for better results at home this week. The LAA offense is scoring 4.16 runs per Game, while batting .252, with a .331 on-base percentage. The pitching staff carries a 4.33 ERA, with a 1.27 WHIP. Mike Trout plated a run in the Game three loss, and he leads the Halos in runs (36), with 13 homers and 32 RBI. Shohei Ohtani leads LAA in hits (63), HR (15) and RBI (41). Gio Urshela leads the team in batting (.310), after recording a hit in seven of the last nine Games.
Tyler Anderson (2-1, 5.47 ERA, 33 Ks) will make the road start for Los Angeles. The eighth-year lefty took his first losing decision of the season in the Southside last week, giving up six runs to the White Sox in just four innings of work. Anderson hadn’t allowed more than three runs through the five starts prior, and a return to Anaheim should do him justice. Anderson’s last home spot resulted in a win against Boston, after allowing just one run through six innings.
Chicago vs Anaheim Trends
Chicago is 34-22 against the spread this season, with a 29-24-3 O/U record. LA Angels are 28-28 ATS this year, with a 26-28-2 over/under record.
Corey’s Free Pick
This interleague series should see production on both sides, starting immediately in Game one. Both starters have shown vulnerability this season, and I like targeting the total early in this series. Tyler Anderson and Hayden Wesneski will likely allow runs to both respective lineups, so take the Over for Game one, and give the Cubs a look as underdog.
