Cardinals Betting Preview

St. Louis moved to 25-36 after losing to Texas. The Cardinals have now dropped four straight Games with a third consecutive one-run loss, and they’ll attempt to get back on track Tuesday. The St. Louis' offense is scoring 4.44 runs per Game, while batting .258, with a .328 on-base percentage. The pitching staff carries a 4.64 ERA, with a 1.49 WHIP. Paul Goldschmidt has recorded multiple hits in three of the last six Games, and he leads the Cards in hits (66) and batting (.292). Nolan Gorman has produced a run in consecutive Games, and he’s first on the team in HR (14) and RBI (44).

Matthew Liberatore (1-1, 4.91 ERA, 9 Ks) will start for St. Louis. The second-year lefty suffered his first loss of the season last week in Cleveland, after allowing four runs in five innings pitched. Texas will represent the toughest lineup he’s faced.

Rangers Betting Preview

Texas moved to 39-20 following the win over Texas. The Rangers followed up their sweep of the Mariners with a Game one win, and they’ll look to make it five straight on Tuesday. The Texas offense is scoring 4.88 runs per Game, while batting .270, with a .339 on-base percentage. The pitching staff carries a 3.77 ERA, with a 1.20 WHIP. Marcus Semien has matched his energy with a twelve-Game hit streak of his own, and he leads the team in hits (75) and runs (55), with impressive splits of .296/8/40. Adonis Garcia had a relatively quiet week at the plate, but he remains first on the team in HR (14) and RBI (51).

Dane Dunning (4-1, 2.06 ERA, 32 Ks) will get the ball for Texas. The fourth-year pitcher had another solid outing last week in Detroit, striking out six in five innings pitched, but he took his first losing decision of the season after three runs. Dunning has turned a corner this season, and the three runs allowed marked his highest total given up through 13 appearances, and he’ll look to bounce back against St. Louis here.

Corey’s Free Pick

Texas has simply been the better ball club this season, and when you throw in the advantage they will carry on the mound into this contest, you got the ingredients for a Rangers’ victory. Dane Dunning’s turnaround this season has been impressive, and he’s been very trustworthy early on. St. Louis has been inconsistent at the plate this season, while Texas has been one of the best offensive lineups in the league. Back the Rangers to take Game one at home.
