Brendan Rodgers Gives Hilarious Insight into ‘See you here in May’ Comments
Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers made headlines last summer when he told fans of the club he’d see them back at Parkhead in May for a title party.
The boss’ words came to fruition after the Hoops secured the Premiership crown with a dominant 5-0 win over Kilmarnock at Rugby Park a few months ago.
Now, Rodgers has given some insight into his vow, revealing the key reason as to why he did what he did.
He said (Sky Sports): “That was only because when I turned up here the first time there was 15,000 (at Celtic Park) then when I turned up the second time there was a couple of hundred there, bless them!”
It is fair to say the gaffer’s return to Glasgow divided opinion among the Parkhead faithful.
Some fans were all for his homecoming while others still had a sour taste in their mouths because of the way he departed Celtic in 2019.
This summer, though, the gap has been bridged, and everyone is behind the manager ahead of yet another title push, which begins this Sunday against Kilmarnock.
Kick-off in front of sold-out Paradise is at 4.30 pm as the champions look to get off to a flyer.
