An Adelaide man stopping for coffee has been left baffled by a small detail on a sign in the shop’s window.

Upon closer inspection of Manna Coffee Shop he discovered the small Norwood Business was not what it seemed.

Tyson Drysdale said he was driving down Kensington Rd looking for a caffeine hit when he saw the words Manna Coffee Shop printed large across a shop window.

“I saw this place and specifically pulled over to get a coffee from it. But, to my disappointment ...” he wrote on Facebook.

An A4 sheet of paper stuck in the window explained: “Sorry, we do not sell coffee here.”

“It would drive coffee addicts up the wall,” Drysdale said.

“They’ll be disappointed when they read the small contradictory sign in the shopfront. The sign is just so small and obscure that no one driving can read it.”

The revelation left many people unsure about what the restaurant actually sold.

“Well, I’m confused,” one person wrote.

“Maybe they mean bulk coffee? They only sell it by the cup?” another asked.

“Only sells hot cocoa and sodas, right?” another said.

The coffee shop is actually an Asian-fusion restaurant which sells “authentic home-cooked Malaysian” food.

The business did once sell coffee alongside its Asian cuisine, according to a 2019 Facebook post featuring a menu board with coffee options. But java is no longer on the menu.

While some were quick to comment “false advertising”, Drysdale said it was “just a funny situation”.

“It’s no big deal,” he said. “Just one of those quirky things in life to laugh about.”
