Best MLB Player Prop Bets for Today 5/28: Cole Ragans is an ace | Pickswise
It’s a busy day in baseball with plenty of action happening all around the country today. A plethora of MLB Games means there were a lot of player prop options, and I found my 2 favorite picks for today’s slate. I’m 5-1 on my MLB player props this season, so let’s keep the streak going today! You can also check out our MLB picks for each of today’s big matchups, but for now, let’s dive into the best MLB player prop bets for Tuesday, May 28.
Grayson Rodriguez (BAL) to record the win (+145)
Odds available at DraftKings Sportsbook at time of publishing
The Orioles are flying high right now as they’ve won 5 games in a row. Baltimore took the series opener against the Red Sox yesterday by a wide margin, and tonight should be a similar case. Grayson Rodriguez will take the hill for the O’s, and he’s been fantastic since returning from an injury. After a brief 3-week rest, Rodriguez has allowed just 2 runs and 4 hits with 14 strikeouts in 11 innings against the Mariners and White Sox. The young right-hander has limited hitters to a .111 batting average and .119 xBA in those 2 starts.
In order to record the win, Rodriguez needs to pitch at least 5 innings and leave the game with the Orioles in the lead. It’s then up to the bullpen to maintain that lead which isn’t too worrisome for me since the Baltimore pen hasn’t been put into too many high-leverage situations recently. To get the lead, the O’s will need to get a few runs against Brayan Bello. The Red Sox star missed several weeks with an injury and hasn’t been the same since returning. The righty has allowed 10 runs, 15 hits, 4 home runs and 6 walks in 15.2 innings since coming back. With a red-hot Baltimore lineup and Rodriguez on the bump, this price seems too good to be true.

Cole Ragans (KC) over 17.5 outs recorded (-155)
Available at DraftKings Sportsbook at time of publishing
The Kansas City ace has been fantastic this season. In 11 starts, Ragans owns a 3.34 ERA with a 3.30 xERA while recording a near 30% strikeout rate. Besides being a strikeout artist, the lefty has also demonstrated the ability to go deep into Games. He’s completed at least 6 innings in 8 starts this season, including his last 5 in a row. Plus, he’s already faced the Twins this season and went 6 innings and allowed just 2 runs while punching out 9.
Minnesota is in the middle of the pack in most offensive categories against left-handed pitchers. Facing a southpaw isn’t much of an advantage for a Twins lineup that has plenty of lefty hitters. Although it’s a little juiced, Ragans to complete 6 innings has been a task he’s performed over 72% of times this year.
