The Toronto Blue Jays will host the Houston Astros for their series finale this Thursday from the Rogers Centre on the MLB Network. Toronto took Game three in a low scoring affair last night, 3-2.

Astros Betting Preview

Houston enters at 36-26 after losing to Toronto. The Astros have dropped two straight after winning the series opener, and they’ll look to leave Canada with a victory here. The Houston offense is scoring 4.66 runs per Game, while batting .247, with a .316 on-base percentage. The pitching staff carries a 3.25 ERA, with a 1.22 WHIP. Yordan Alvarez has homered twice in two of three Games against Toronto, and he leads Houston in HR (17) and RBI (55). Kyle Tucker has multiple hits in three of the last six Games, and he’s second on the team in RBI with 36.

Framber Valdez (6-4, 2.16 ERA, 84 Ks) will take the mound for Houston. The sixth-year pitcher tossed seven strikeouts in seven shutout innings against the Angels last week to earn his third straight victory. Valdez has delivered quality starts in all three outings, while allowing just one earned run.

Blue Jays Betting Preview

Toronto enters at 32-27 after defeating New York. The Blue Jays have opened June with three straight wins, and they’ll look to complete the sweep Sunday. The Toronto offense is scoring 4.85 runs per Game, while batting .264, with a .333 on-base percentage. The pitching staff carries a 3.83 ERA, with a 1.25 WHIP. Bo Bichette has homered in back-to-back Games, and he’s first on the team in hits (85), with team-leading splits of .331/14/42. Vlad Guerrero Jr. has plated a run in three of the last five Games, and he’s up to 38 RBI.

Jose Berrios (5-4, 3.66 ERA, 44 Ks) will get the ball for Toronto. The eighth-year righty came through with another strong start last week in Queens, striking out six in six full innings of work. Berrios has been pretty sharp over his last six starts, allowing no more than three runs, and picking up three winning decisions.

Houston vs Toronto Trends

Houston is 33-29 against the spread this season, with a 30-31-1 O/U record. Toronto is 30-33 ATS this year, with a 29-31-3 over/under record.

Corey’s Free Pick

Two of the league’s more consistent starters will cross paths Thursday in what should be a contested contest. Framber Valdez is streaking right now, and while the Jays have one of the best lineups in the majors, he should be able to hold his own. You can make the same exact case for Jose Berrios, who’s pitched noticeably sharper at home this season. Tread lightly with the firepower on both sides, but buy into the pitchers duel here with the Under.
