Feyenoord manager Arne Slot has put pen to paper on a new contract with the Dutch side, ending the chances of a move to Tottenham this summer.

Tottenham are on the hunt for a new permanent manager and have considered a number of candidates from across the globe. Slot had recently emerged as one of the club's preferred options.

However, Slot himself confirmed he planned to stay with Feyenoord after Spurs ran into issues with his compensation fee. Feyenoord demanded around £17.5m to part ways with both Slot and his coaching team - a sum Spurs were not prepared to pay.

To bring an end to the saga, Slot has now inked a new contract to tie himself to the Dutch side until 2026.

"I'm not done here yet," Slot said. "We have had a wonderful season with Feyenoord, with the championship as a wonderful reward for all the hard work that has been put in, but I really want to continue building.

"After the summer, an adventure awaits in the Champions League and there is a national title to defend. Enough to look forward to, so I am proud to be and remain Feyenoord's trainer in Rotterdam."

Spurs sources have stressed they have never had a favourite candidate for the manager role and the club will continue to evaluate all their options.

Sporting CP's Ruben Amorim and former Spain boss Luis Enrique are both admired, while of Ange Postecoglou, Thomas Frank, Marco Silva, Brendan Rodgers and Graham Potter have all been discussed.
