Andy Walker Makes Scott McKenna Celtic Transfer Pitch
Former Celtic striker-turned-pundit Andy Walker reckons Scott McKenna would be an ideal signing for the Hoops this summer.
Brendan Rodgers’ need for defensive reinforcements this summer is coherent. The Hoops have already been linked with a few centre-backs in the transfer window, but nothing has materialised yet.
The likes of Flavius Daniliuc and Dara O’Shea have been named as potential options for the Bhoys, but Walker believes McKenna would be perfect.
A free agent after his contract with English Premier League outfit Nottingham Forest expired, the 27-year-old is fresh off the back of appearing at the European Championships with Scotland. The case for the Parkhead side to sign him was recently presented.
“Scott McKenna is out there”, said Walker (Go Radio via RecordSport).
“He is free, he has Champions League experience and plays for Scotland.
“I think he is a decent player and would be worthy of a Celtic jersey and I think he would improve Celtic defensively. But I’m sure they have a lot of players on their radar.”
The credentials of McKenna are clear – he is proven in the league, would count towards the homegrown quota for Europe, and be a reliable option.
With interest from Hull City, though, it remains to be seen whether a move to Celtic will transpire.
